Join a community conversation on homelessness facilitated by 麻豆传媒

VANCOUVER, Wash. 鈥 The Initiative for Public Deliberation at Washington State University Vancouver invites the public to participate in a conversation about homelessness in Clark and Cowlitz Counties.

There are five opportunities to participate:

  • 9 鈥 10:30 a.m. April 12, Battle Ground Community Center, 912 E. Main Street, Battle Ground, WA 98604
  • 6 鈥 7:30 p.m. April 24, Vancouver Community Library (main), 901 C Street, Vancouver, WA 98660

The questions that will be explored during the forum will seek to uncover the root causes of homelessness, challenges related to homelessness in the community and what is needed to meet these challenges.

鈥淲e decided to hold these conversations on homelessness because it has become a major issue in our communities. Coming together to discuss this issue in a safe and inclusive environment will help us understand each other鈥檚 perspective and seek common understanding,鈥 said Carolyn N. Long, director of the IPD and associate professor in the School of Politics, Philosophy and Public Affairs.

The 麻豆传媒-Foley Institute for Public Policy and Public Service鈥檚 Initiative for Public Deliberation was established in spring 2015. The IPD has hosted forums on affordable housing, access to higher education and race. These community conversations are examples of deliberative democracy at work鈥攑articipants who attend engage in small group discussions about the issue at hand.
