VANCOUVER, Wash. 鈥 As the final event of the One November Morning exhibit and Native American History and Culture symposium, 鈥淟egacies of the Past in the Present鈥 will take place April 20 in the Dengerink Administration Building, Room 110. Two sessions will be offered. Both are free and open to the public.
Session One: Indigenous Students Forum on Education
4 鈥 5 p.m.
Hear indigenous students speak on issues they have encountered in higher education, and discuss solutions with audience members.
Panelists include Sisilla Carpenter, 麻豆传媒 alumna; Dustina Haase-Lanier, president of 麻豆传媒 First Nations Club; Shayleen Macy, University of Oregon alumna; Channa Smith, president of Clark College Indigenous Peoples Club; Ian Twiss, Portland State University graduate student; and Paul Wilson, Lane Community College student.
Session Two: Indigenous Leaders Forum
6 鈥 8 p.m.
Local indigenous community leaders will speak on the ways past events continue to affect their lives, and engage audience stories, questions and responses connecting national and local history with contemporary issues.
Panelists include Becky Archibald, Shoshone-Bannock/Sierra Miwok; Tanna Engdahl, Cowlitz; Sam Robinson, Chinook; and Roben White, Cheyenne/Lakota.
The One November Morning exhibit and Native American History and Culture symposium is co-sponsored by Washington State University Vancouver, Clark County Historical Museum, Portland Art Museum, Portland State University and the University of Oregon.
