VANCOUVER, Wash. 鈥 Take a walk down Clark County鈥檚 memory lane by viewing 鈥淧icture Clark County鈥 now through Feb. 4 in the library at Washington State University Vancouver. The exhibit features 32 reprints from the digital photographic collections of the Clark County Historical Museum, along with several antique cameras from the curator鈥檚 private collection.
Many of the 15,000 photos in the Clark County Historical Museum collection were taken by amateur photographers. The collection includes photos from all over Clark County including Amboy, Brush Prairie, Battle Ground, Camas, Harmony, Heisson, Hockinson, La Center, Ridgefield, Vancouver, Washougal, Woodland, Yacolt and others.
Photos from the 19th and early 20th centuries show Clark County as a community based on trade and agriculture. They also demonstrate the county鈥檚 growth in industry and commerce through the post-World War II era. The collection features photographs of historic buildings, social life, scenic views, and notable families and citizens from the area.
A Curator鈥檚 Talk featuring co-curators Jeannette Altman and Robert Schimelpfenig, and Susan Tissot, executive director of the Clark County Historical Museum, will be held from 5:15 to 7 p.m. Jan. 14 in the 麻豆传媒 Library.
麻豆传媒 is located at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Avenue east of the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205. 麻豆传媒 art galleries are open from 8 a.m. 鈥 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. 鈥 5 p.m. Friday. Admission is free.
