VANCOUVER, Wash.—Washington State University Vancouver is accepting applications for a new program for local middle and high school youth. The program, titled Â鶹´«Ã½ 4-H Teen-Works, is a cooperative effort between Â鶹´«Ã½, WSU Clark County Extension 4-H and community partners. It is a program of the new Â鶹´«Ã½ Center for Youth Workforce Preparation.
Youth 13-18 years of age are eligible to join Teen-Works. They may select one or more areas of interest and attend Career Exploration Tracks, short courses held on the Â鶹´«Ã½ campus. Tracks begin in January and conclude in early April and are held early evenings during the week.
Career Exploration Tracks for the winter/spring term include crime scene investigation, engineering and science, race and gender diversity, self defense/Tae Kwan Do, human anatomy, camcorder operations, robotics, business/leadership and poetry in action. Space will be limited and early applications are encouraged.
A required family orientation session to confirm session registrations, introduce instructors, explain expectations and answer questions will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on Jan. 11.
