Vancouver, Wash. - Washington State University Vancouver alumni Joe Fryer and Everett Ulbricht, owners of Whizzo Technologies, have pledged money for a scholarship for students in the Â鶹´«Ã½ Digital Technology and Culture program. Fryer graduated in 2003 from the DTC program. Ulbricht graduated with a degree in Public Affairs in 2002.
The $1,000 Whizzo Technologies Scholarship will be awarded annually, and students must earn a minimum of 12 credits per semester and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher to be eligible. Preference will be given to students who are the custodial single heads of household.
Fryer and Ulbricht established Whizzo Technologies out of their desire to help "non-techies" maintain their own computers.
"Â鶹´«Ã½ helped me develop the skills necessary to organize and create my business," said Ulbricht, CEO of the company. "The discipline required to complete my studies at Â鶹´«Ã½ was a critical component to help me succeed in my current business."
Fryer, CTO of Whizzo Technologies, said Â鶹´«Ã½ challenged him to become a better, more well-rounded person. "I gained the discipline, education, and work habits that are necessary to build and maintain a successful business," he said.
Based in Vancouver, Washington, USA, Whizzo Technologies has partnered with companies in Norway and Germany to provide users with a comprehensive suite of anti-spyware/anti-malware tools. Their latest product, Whizzo CleanSuite, is a computer maintenance package that cleans and optimizes computers, and the company claims it can raise computer performance and speed by 50% to 90%.
