VANCOUVER, Wash. - As Washington State University Vancouver will be admitting freshmen students for the first time in the fall of 2006, the university wants to ensure that transfer students continue to have opportunities to complete their four-year degrees following completion of their two-year degrees at Clark and Lower Columbia Colleges. As a result, the three institutions have crafted a unique and precedent-setting agreement, which guarantees that all students who complete the co-admission and transfer by major process, previously agreed to by the three institutions, will be able to transfer to Â鶹´«Ã½.
"This agreement will maker it even easier for students to transfer from our local community colleges to Â鶹´«Ã½. It is a unique arrangement that serves our students better than any such agreement in the state," declares Â鶹´«Ã½ Chancellor Hal Dengerink.
Clark College President Wayne Branch agrees, stating, "the partnership that we have been able to forge between Â鶹´«Ã½, Clark College, and Lower Columbia College is exemplary in its focus on student success. This effort is made possible by the ability of the faculty and staff at all three institutions to collaborate and mutually problem solve."
The formal agreement will be signed Thursday, June 8, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. on the Â鶹´«Ã½ campus, on the east terrace of the Clark College at Â鶹´«Ã½. WSU President V. Lane Rawlins, Charles Earl, Executive Director of the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges and James Sulton, Executive Director of the Higher Education Coordinating Board will authorize the agreement.
Â鶹´«Ã½ offers 14 bachelor's and nine master's degrees in more than 35 fields of study. The campus is located at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave., east of the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205.
