VANCOUVER, Wash. 鈥 Washington State University Vancouver鈥檚 Creative Media and Digital Culture Program presents 鈥淕ame Changers: Reinventing Storytelling Through Video Games鈥 10 a.m. 鈥 6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays March 4 鈥 26 at the Red Lion Inn at the Quay, 100 Columbia Street, Vancouver. The exhibit and related events are free and open to the public.
Organized by CMDC students and faculty members, the exhibit features more than 30 indie video games. Independent game developers have impacted the assumptions of traditional storytelling and reinvented the way narrative games are played. The exhibit explores video game genres, aesthetics, perspectives, platforms and development methods.
A kick-off party will take place from 5:30 鈥 9 p.m. March 5. The party will feature Portland鈥檚 geek band, The Doubleclicks; a performance of 鈥淎rtemis Spaceship Simulator,鈥 a game set on the bridge of 鈥淪tar Trek鈥檚鈥 Starship Enterprise; and the 鈥淐hurch of Robotron,鈥 an interactive game installation involving lasers, LED lights and competitive game play. Other events scheduled during the month-long exhibit include a Unity Roadshow, an indie game show and tell, a double-feature movie screening of 鈥淚ndie Game: The Movie,鈥 and 鈥淎tari: Game Over,鈥 and video game competitions featuring 鈥淐astle Crashers,鈥 鈥淩unbow鈥 and 鈥淩ocket League.鈥
