VANCOUVER, Wash. 鈥 鈥淎ugmented reality鈥 and 鈥渧irtual reality鈥 are terms everybody should know. These two interactive digital technologies are changing the business landscape鈥攆rom online training to real estate ads, marketing posters and much more.
Explore how you can use these technologies to your advantage at Washington State University Vancouver鈥檚 spring Chancellor鈥檚 Seminar Series, 鈥淩eality Check: Technologies That Will Change the Way We Work and Think.鈥
The program takes place from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 1 in the Firstenburg Student Commons on campus. Tickets are $25 per person and include lunch, lecture and parking. For reservations, visit or call 360-546-9589.
Speakers are Dene Grigar, digital media artist, curator and director of 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Creative Media and Digital Culture program; and Nathan Stahlman, chief operating officer at Instructional Technologies, Inc., a provider of computer-based interactive driver training.
Grigar, a pioneering artist in digital technologies, will discuss some of her research projects and potential business applications of the same technologies. Stahlman will talk about ITI鈥檚 use of virtual reality鈥攚hich creates a 鈥測ou are there鈥 effect by combining interactive simulation and visual effects in its training products for drivers and heavy-equipment operators.
The Chancellor鈥檚 Seminar Series provides a forum for thoughtful perspectives and the exchange of ideas on timely topics. It is an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, business leaders, elected officials and community members to discuss a topic of current interest.
