Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Holds a Beginners Course for Scholarship Seekers

VANCOUVER, Wash – Washington State University Vancouver will host Scholarships 101 at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 4 in the Dengerink Administration building, room 110. The event is free to the public and free parking will be available in Orange 1 lot.

Scholarship 101 is intended for anyone interested in learning where to find scholarships regardless of which college or university a student plans to attend. The workshop will cover where to find the best scholarships, how to write award-winning essays and offer helpful tips from prior scholarship recipients.

Seventy-five percent of Âé¶¹´«Ã½ students receive some form of financial aid, grant or scholarship. Last year, the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ campus awarded more than $1,000,000 in scholarship and tuition waiver awards to upwards of 300 students. The average award was $3,500. In the 2011/2012 academic year, $256,000 in scholarships was awarded.

Âé¶¹´«Ã½ is located at 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Avenue east off the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205.
