VANCOUVER, Wash. 鈥 The hospitality industry is one of the largest in the world, and tourism in the Northwest is growing faster than the national average. Washington State University Vancouver鈥檚 Chancellor鈥檚 Seminar Series will offer insight into this booming industry at 11:45 a.m. Nov. 1 in the Firstenburg Student Commons.
This event features talks by George Schweitzer, local hospitality industry executive; and Nancy Swanger, director and associate professor in the School of Hospitality Business Management at WSU.
Schweitzer will discuss the driving forces behind regional growth in the hospitality industry and how they benefit the economy as a whole. Swanger will offer perspective on the expansion of the hospitality business management program to 麻豆传媒.
WSU Executive Chef Jamie Callison will be present to sign his new cookbook, 鈥淭he Crimson Spoon.鈥 The 200-page, photo-illustrated cookbook features many of Callison鈥檚 highly acclaimed gourmet dishes and recipes. Recipes range from extravagant to simple and draw from each area of WSU鈥檚 food resources, such as the Organic Farm and Creamery, as well as from the Pacific Northwest. 鈥淭he Crimson Spoon鈥 will be available for $38.
Tickets for the Chancellor鈥檚 Seminar Series are $25 and include lunch, lecture and parking. Tickets can be purchased online by visiting or by calling 360-546-9580.
