Transgender Day of Remembrance

Transgender Day of Remembrance, founded in 1999 by advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith, honors the lives of transgender and gender-variant individuals lost to violence.

This annual observance draws attention to the ongoing discrimination, harassment and violence that transgender and gender-variant people face globally. It serves as a powerful reminder of the urgent need to promote safety, respect and dignity for all.
